That's a shame, usually pop in here on the way home but was always going to happen.

I used to go to the Green Man in Stratford on a very regular basis. Police used to ignore the place despite there being many fights. They preferred to raid Reflections the gay bar over the road.

Green Man was a great pub in the late eighties

Re: Vic Tavern
The Green Man was a lovely old boozer. The only one I care a jot about now is the Black Lion. Also really hope the Old Spotted Dog can be saved, it's a travesty that the place remains at risk.

Thought I was the only one.

Hated almost all the pubs in that bit of East Ham.

Prince of Wales after a match on a Saturday used to be great. Once that went started to go to the Green Man and then the Black Lion. I never much liked the Vic.

Going to be rocking there before the Man Utd match next week.

Re: Vic Tavern
I always thought the Green Man was a bit shitty, but it had a certain justroundthe corner appeal for me. Good walk to the ground tho'

Shame but inevitable.
Wonder if the Stanley will survive?

Had some great nights in the Vic will be a shame to see it go.

Not the same as it used to be in there though.

Re: Vic Tavern
Imagine it, shitty hours drive from Chelmsford, find somewhere to park up, so you can pop in the Denmark for an hour where you'll then be dropped half way to the OS because of the traffic.

Then you've got to get back to your car after the game. Fuck that right off.

Gavros 4:19 Mon Mar 21
Re: Vic Tavern
If you go the back route via abbey road and drop off on wharton road im sure it'd be relatively quick.

Re: Vic Tavern
If Upton Park to Stratford is 11 mins Plaistow to there should be even less so why wouldn't fans keep drinking there

Also the bus stops right outside that goes straight there as that's my route home when get the train, couple of pints in Black Lion then jump on the bus

CasualKen I don't think I need to take too many guesses as to who that was. Should write a book.

I'll be over for the Arsenal game mate, ticket or not, so hopefully see you then.

Re: Vic Tavern
CS, it would actually be a lot quicker to get the tube!

And as for after the game... traffic around green street, barking road and romford road at around 5-7pm 7 days a week is pretty much a standstill.

It will never happen.

Re: Vic Tavern
Big E, I was in there on its final night when a mutual friend who shall remain nameless was arrested for trying to walk out carrying the fruit machine. He even got some poor innocent polish guy to help him! Great times.

Re: Vic Tavern
First thing I thought MiM

You'd have to give an 45mins just to be on the safe side and even then you can't drop at the ground you'd have to drop them and then a walk in. so to get it right you'd need to leave at 1.30pm

Why the fuck would you want to go the Boleyn for an hour or so? Its a shithole, people only drink there now because its next to the ground.

mashed in maryland 1:28 Mon Mar 21
Re: Vic Tavern
The traffic alone will see that this never works tbh.

Eddie B 1:07 Mon Mar 21
Re: Vic Tavern
The Boleyn is trying this and unfortunately will fail.
